Evoked by Kahlo

After Frida Kahlo’s “Flower of Life”

here i am

flower child

rotten, withered

flesh breaking the mossy ground.

prying myself from the earth

one limb at a time.

re-emerging,

crimson flowers

litter my hair,

dirt in my teeth,

undead, reborn.

strangled by the vines,

engulfed in moss,

i pry myself up

limb by limb.

petals fall, i rise.

skin-stained burgundy,

reeking of iron.

flower of life,

i dare you to live.
